Elk Hunts FAQ

When is your Elk season?

Our elk hunts begin as early as September 1 and our scheduled hunts can run as late as the end of November. Our elk hunts are 4 days long.

How is the weather? What can I expect?

At the beginning of the season temperatures can be as high as 80 degrees. Temperatures fall in the end of September to October to almost freezing at night and can be as high as 50 degrees in the daytime. Dress in layers!

What kind of weapons are permitted?

At Dunham’s we welcome archery hunters. Traditionally 20-30% of our hunters are archery hunters. Crossbows are also allowed. Our guns laws in Canada do NOT allow hand gun hunting. What caliber to bring is a big question for our elk hunters. We recommend a .300 Win Mag or better. The size of these animals averages 1000 lbs, with some bulls going up to 1200-1300 lbs.
