Whitetail Deer FAQ

When is your whitetail season?

Our white tail hunts traditionally start around September 20th. Early season white tail and traditional ends after the rut at the end of November, and  are generally 4 days long.

How is the weather? What can I expect?

At the beginning of the season temperatures can be as high as 80 degrees. Temperatures fall in the end of September to October to almost freezing at night and can be as high as 50 degrees in the daytime. For our deer hunters the end of October to November can bring temperatures as mild as 30 or 40 degrees, however, the cold Canadian winters can bring temperatures as low as -10 degrees. Dress in layers!

What kind of weapons are permitted?

At Dunham’s we welcome archery hunters, crossbow hunters, rifle hunting. Traditionally 20-30% of our hunters are archery hunters. Crossbows are also allowed. Our guns laws in Canada do NOT allow hand gun hunting. For the white tail deer, a 7mm and up is recommended. A 300lb mature buck is not uncommon on High Caliber Ranch.
